  • Pitcher or Large Jug: 1 (for serving)
  • Measuring Cups: 1 set (for measuring water and sweetener)

  • Cutting Board: 1 (for cutting watermelon)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups about 1/2 medium watermelon – Fresh Watermelon, chopped
  • 2 –3 cups – Water adjust based on preferred consistency
  • 1 – Lime juiced
  • 2 –3 tbsp – Sweetener sugar, honey, or agave syrup, to taste
  • Ice – Optional for serving (to taste)

Instructions

Prepare the Watermelon

  • Cut the watermelon into chunks and remove any seeds.
You should have about 4 cups of chopped watermelon.

Blend the Ingredients

  • Place the watermelon chunks into a blender, adding 2 cups of cold water.
Blend until smooth and fully pureed.

Strain the Mixture (Optional)

  • If you prefer a smooth texture, strain the blended watermelon through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp.
    This step is optional.

Add Lime and Sweetener

  • Pour the strained (or unstrained) watermelon juice into a pitcher.
Add the lime juice and sweetener of your choice. Stir well and taste, adjusting sweetness if necessary.

Serve

  • Add ice to the pitcher or serve over ice in individual glasses.
Garnish with lime wedges or watermelon slices for extra flair. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Watermelon Selection: Choose a ripe watermelon for the best flavor. Look for one that is heavy for its size and has a deep, vibrant color.
  • Adjust Sweetness: The natural sweetness of watermelon varies, so start with less sweetener and adjust to taste.
  • Additions: For a twist, add a handful of mint leaves or a pinch of salt for an added burst of flavor.
  • Storage: Watermelon agua fresca is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Stir well before serving if the ingredients have separated.
  • Frozen Version: For a frosty version, you can freeze the watermelon chunks before blending. This will give the agua fresca a slushy texture.
