Equipment

  • Pizza Stone or Baking Sheet: 1 (for baking)
  • Rolling Pin: 1 (optional, for dough)
  • Mixing Bowl: 1 (for preparing dough)
  • Oven: 1 (for baking)

Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 ¼ tsp
  • 1 cup warm water

For the Sauce

  • ½ cup tomato sauce or pesto, BBQ sauce, etc.

For the Toppings

  • 1 cup vegan cheese store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup bell peppers thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced
  • ½ cup red onions thinly sliced
  • 1 cup spinach leaves optional
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for drizzling
  • 1 tsp dried oregano optional

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast.
Stir and let sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil.
Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats for a crispy crust.

Roll out the Dough:

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12-inch circle (or your desired size) on a floured surface.
Transfer to a parchment paper-lined pizza stone or baking sheet.

Assemble the Pizza:

  • Spread a thin layer of your chosen sauce over the dough.
Sprinkle with vegan cheese, and add your favorite toppings like bell peppers, mushrooms, red onions, and spinach.

Bake the Pizza:

  • Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Serve:

  • Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with oregano, and slice. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Dough Options: You can use pre-made vegan pizza dough for convenience.
  • Toppings: Feel free to get creative with toppings! Try roasted vegetables, olives, or even fruit like pineapple.
  • Vegan Cheese: The type of vegan cheese used can affect the meltability and flavor. Store-bought brands tend to melt better, while homemade cashew cheese can provide a creamier texture.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free pizza dough for a gluten-free version of this recipe.
