1 Measuring Cup (for measuring water and sugar)

4cupswater
1/4cupsugaradjust to taste
Ice cubesfor serving
Optional: 1 limefor garnish, or extra tangy flavor
Instructions
Prepare the Tamarind Pulp: If using tamarind pods, break open the pods and remove the pulp. Soak the pulp in warm water for 10–15 minutes. Once softened, break the pulp apart and strain it to remove seeds and fibers.
Sweeten the Mixture: Dissolve 1/4 cup of sugar in the tamarind water, stirring well. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed. You can add more sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink.
Dilute with Water: Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water to the tamarind mixture. Stir to combine.
Chill: Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes before serving. If you're in a rush, add ice cubes directly to the pitcher to cool it down quickly.
Serve: Pour into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of lime or a few mint leaves, if desired.
Notes
Adjust sweetness: Depending on the type of tamarind and personal preference, you may need to adjust the sugar amount. Start with 1/4 cup and increase if necessary.
Use tamarind paste: If you’re short on time, tamarind paste can be a convenient alternative to fresh tamarind pods. Just dilute it with warm water as directed.
Storage: Tamarind Agua Fresca can be stored in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Make sure to keep it in an airtight container to maintain its freshness.
