  • 1 Vegetable Peeler
  • 1 Sharp knife
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Parchment paper (optional)
  • 1 Air fryer (optional, for air-frying method)
  • 1 Deep fryer (optional, for deep-frying method)

Ingredients

  • 2 large – Sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons – Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon – Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Smoked paprika optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon – Cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat

Instructions

Preheat the Oven (if using oven method):

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If using the air fryer, set it to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Sweet Potatoes:

  • Peel the sweet potatoes (optional) and cut them into even 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick fries.

Season the Fries:

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the cut fries with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and any additional seasonings like smoked paprika or cayenne pepper.

Cook the Fries:

    For Oven-Baked Fries:

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (optional) and spread the fries in a single layer.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

    For Air-Fried Fries:

    • Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are in a single layer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until crispy.

    For Deep-Fried Fries:

    • Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the fries in batches for 4-5 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

    Serve:

    • Once cooked, remove the fries from the oven or fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!

    Notes

    • Crispier Fries: For extra crispiness, you can soak the cut fries in cold water for 30 minutes before seasoning and baking. Pat them dry thoroughly before cooking.
    • Oil Substitutes: If you prefer a different oil, avocado oil or vegetable oil can also work well.
    • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, place them in the oven or air fryer for the best crisp.
    • Make It Spicy: Add more cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce after cooking for a spicy twist.
