Equipment

  • 1 Blender or food processor
  • 1 Popsicle mold (6-8 popsicles)
  • 1 Popsicle sticks (if not included with mold)
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Silicone spatula (optional, for pouring)

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups 375 ml Fresh or frozen fruit (e.g., strawberries, mangoes, blueberries, or bananas)
  • ½ cup 120 ml Base liquid (coconut water, almond milk, or yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml Sweetener (honey, agave, or maple syrup, optional)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon 15 g Chia seeds, flaxseeds, spinach, or protein powder (for added nutrition)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • If using fresh fruit, wash and chop it into smaller pieces. If using frozen fruit, no need to thaw it first.

Blend the Smoothie

  • Add the fruit, base liquid, and sweetener (if using) to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy, ensuring the mixture has a thick enough consistency to hold shape in the molds.

Add Optional Boosters

  • If you’re adding superfoods or protein powder, blend them in at this stage until well incorporated.

Pour into Molds

  • Carefully pour the smoothie mixture into popsicle molds. Leave a little space at the top to allow for expansion as they freeze. Gently tap the molds to remove any air bubbles.

Insert Sticks

  • Place popsicle sticks into the molds (if not built-in) and ensure they are centered.

Freeze

  • Place the molds in the freezer for at least 4-6 hours, or until fully frozen.

Unmold and Serve

  • To remove the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds. Gently pull the popsicle sticks, and the popsicles should easily slide out. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Flavor Variations: Feel free to swap the fruits based on your preferences or what’s in season. For example, try a tropical mix with pineapple and coconut, or a berry blend with raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
  • Storage: Store smoothie popsicles in an airtight container or wrap them individually in plastic wrap to avoid freezer burn. They can be kept for up to 1-2 weeks in the freezer.
  • Customization: Add-ins like spinach, chia seeds, or flaxseeds are optional but can increase the nutritional content. You can also experiment with sweeteners to control the sweetness to your taste.
