Equipment

  • Blender (1) – To blend the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
  • Strainer (Optional) (1) – To strain the pulp, if desired.
  • Pitcher (1) – For serving or storing the agua fresca.
  • Measuring cups (1 set) – To measure out the ingredients.
  • Knife & cutting board (1) – To chop the pineapple and cucumber.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups – Fresh pineapple chopped
  • 1 cup – Cucumber chopped
  • 2 tbsp – Lime juice about 1–2 limes
  • 2 –3 tbsp – Sweetener sugar, honey, or agave, optional
  • 2 cups – Water or coconut water for added flavor
  • Ice cubes – To chill the drink
  • Fresh mint Optional – For garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Start by chopping the pineapple into chunks and slicing the cucumber.
If you’re using fresh mint, pick a few sprigs and set them aside. Squeeze the lime juice into a bowl.

Blend the Ingredients

  • Add the chopped pineapple, cucumber, lime juice, and water (or coconut water) into a blender.
    Blend on high until smooth.

Strain the Mixture (Optional)

  • If you prefer a smooth, clear drink, use a fine mesh strainer to strain the mixture into a pitcher.
Press gently with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. You can also skip this step if you prefer a thicker texture.

Sweeten to Taste

  • Taste the agua fresca and add sweetener to your liking.
Start with 2 tablespoons of sugar, honey, or agave, and blend again to mix thoroughly.

Serve

  • Pour the agua fresca into glasses over ice. Garnish with fresh mint or cucumber slices for an extra touch of flavor.

Enjoy!

  • Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, hydrating drink!

Notes

  • Substitutions: You can use frozen pineapple if you don’t have fresh, and feel free to replace the sweetener with stevia or a natural alternative to reduce calories.
  • Adjusting Sweetness: Depending on the ripeness of your pineapple, you may not need much sweetener. Taste as you go and adjust accordingly.
  • Add-ins: For an extra kick, try adding a few slices of fresh ginger or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy twist!
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2–3 days. Stir before serving, as the ingredients may separate over time. You can also freeze a portion of the agua fresca into ice cubes to keep the drink chilled without diluting it.
