Equipment

  • Toaster or Grill Pan – 1 unit (for toasting bread)
  • Knife – 1 unit (for cutting avocado and bread)
  • Cutting Board: 1 unit
  • Small Bowl – 1 unit (for mashing avocado)
  • Fork – 1 unit (for mashing avocado)
  • Spoon – 1 unit (for spreading avocado on toast)

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 slices of bread sourdough, whole wheat, or gluten-free
  • Salt to taste (about ¼ teaspoon)
  • Black pepper to taste (about ¼ teaspoon)
  • Optional toppings e.g., cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, balsamic glaze, fresh herbs

Instructions

Toast the Bread

  • Begin by toasting the slices of bread until they’re crispy and golden. You can use a toaster or a grill pan for this step. Once toasted, cut the bread into bite-sized pieces (about 3 pieces per slice of bread).

Mash the Avocado

  • Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a small bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocado to your desired consistency (smooth or chunky). Season with salt and pepper, and add a squeeze of lemon juice if you like.

Assemble the Bites

  • Spread a generous layer of mashed avocado onto each piece of toasted bread. Be sure to cover the surface completely for maximum flavor.

Add Toppings

  • Add your favorite toppings, such as sliced cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Get creative with seasonings—fresh herbs like basil or cilantro work well here!

Serve and Enjoy

  • Arrange the Avocado Toast Bites on a plate and serve immediately while the bread is crispy and the avocado is fresh.

Notes

  • Freshness Tip: To prevent the avocado from browning, store leftover mashed avocado in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface.
  • Topping Variations: Customize your bites with various toppings like poached eggs, smoked salmon, or sautéed mushrooms for extra protein or flavor.
  • Bread Choices: Use your favorite type of bread—sourdough, multigrain, or even gluten-free options work well. For a lower-carb alternative, use cucumber slices or rice cakes instead of bread.
  • Meal Prep: You can prep the avocado mash ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 hours. However, assemble the bites just before serving for the best texture and flavor.
