Equipment

  • Air Fryer – 1 unit
  • Mixing Bowl (1 unit)
  • Rolling Pin (1 unit)
  • Knife or pizza cutter (1 unit)
  • Baking Brush (1 unit)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the cinnamon-sugar coating

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
Melt the butter and add it to the dry ingredients, followed by the water.
Mix until the dough comes together and forms a smooth texture.
If the dough is too dry, add a small amount of water, a teaspoon at a time.

Roll and Cut the Dough

  • Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into thin strips or triangles to form the chips.

Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.

Air Fry the Chips

  • Brush each dough piece lightly with melted butter.
Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap.
Air fry for 7-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chips are golden brown and crispy.

Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar

  • In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
Once the chips are done, immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat thoroughly.

Serve

  • Serve the churro chips warm, paired with your favorite dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Gluten-Free Option: To make this recipe gluten-free, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Vegan Option: Use dairy-free butter or coconut oil to replace the unsalted butter.
  • Crispy Texture: For an extra crispy texture, be sure to roll the dough as thin as possible and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
  • Serving Suggestions: These churro chips are delicious when paired with chocolate or caramel dipping sauces. For a more decadent treat, serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Storage: Leftover chips can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes to restore their crispiness.
